shadowee is a shadowing app for training your spoken English. Each lesson is a short conversation — you listen, repeat, and shadow until the rhythm and sound feel natural.

The Four Modes

Shadow Speak simultaneously with the audio. Try to match the speaker's timing and melody. Start at 0.9× speed if it feels too fast.

Echo Listen to each line, then speak it from memory during the pause that follows. Use the Echo pause control to adjust how long you have.

Repeat+ Listen to cumulative segments of each line phrase-by-phrase, then repeat each segment after it plays during the equal duration pause.

Blind The transcript is hidden. You must recall and speak each line entirely from memory. This deepens retention.

Suggested Practice Sequence

1Shadow 2–3 times at 0.9× speed, then at full speed

2Repeat+ once — listen and repeat cumulative phrases of each line

3Echo once — repeat each line during the silence after it plays

4Blind once — hide the text and speak from memory

Lesson Status

○Gray — not started yet. This is the default for every lesson.

●Yellow — you're currently working on this lesson.

●Green — you've completed this lesson.

Set status — click the dot on any lesson card (or at the top of an open lesson) and pick a status. The dot on the sidebar card and the lesson header always stay in sync. Status is manual — finishing a pass won't change it automatically.

Archive — hover a lesson card and click the archive icon to hide it. Find hidden lessons via the Archived (N) link at the bottom of the sidebar.

Tips

Use 0.75× or 0.9× speed if a lesson feels too fast — speed up gradually.
Use the A / B keys (or the A / B buttons on each line) to loop a range of lines until they feel natural.
Press F to toggle Focus mode — enlarges the current line and blurs the rest.
Your progress (completed passes, position, hard lines) is saved automatically and restored on your next visit.
